An archeologist will excavate a site to uncover artifacts and other remains that update what we know about the past. These newly discovered objects help expand our understanding of our past and provide a bigger picture. The yearly updates to the ICD-10 CM code set work in much the same way– new codes and guidelines are added, deleted or changes to provide a clearer picture of our healthcare landscape which is forever changing. 2023 is on tract to be a paramount year for the ICD-10 CM code set with more new codes coming our way than we have seen in years past. With 1,468 new diagnosis codes added to the code set as well as over 250 deletions , and multiple revisions on top of new and revised guidelines its going to be a impactful year.
