In Episode 96, Paula Digby completes her comments on acute flaccid myelitis and then speaks to a concern about clinical documentation indicating “status post _” as the etiologic diagnosis for an inpatient rehabilitation patient. What guidance can be shared with the provider to discourage the use of “status post” in this type of situation, as it cannot be coded in that field? The second concern has to do with CPT reporting of polypectomy through a hysteroscope during the same encounter as an endometrial ablation. The final questioner wonders whether it is correct to code from the Pre-Admission Screening for the IRF.
