For Episode 144 Paula Digby answered several questions related to Inpatient Rehab coding. Our dear friend, Anonymous, asked for help reporting hemorrhagic CVA on the IRF PAI. Kristy sent in several queries about UB-04 reporting for IRF, beginning with selecting the primary and secondary diagnosis for traumatic incomplete spinal cord injury. Another query involved selecting the appropriate Primary Diagnosis for a patient with cervical spondylosis with myelopathy status post laminectomy.

Ms Digby continued her deep dive into IRF reporting by discussing whether a code could be utilized as a comorbid if it is included in the IGC. The final question if from a coder who has been given conflicting advice about reporting Z codes when a traumatic fracture was present.

Congratulations Kristy for winning today’s “mugging”! We appreciate your support! Coffee with the Coder(R) loves your questions.  To watch episode 144, click Judy’s lovely mugshot. (Just so you know, the captions are not yet validated.)
