During the “Insiders” portion of Episode 143 Paula Digby discusses the new enforcement actions against Medicare Advantage plans. The discussion continues into the regular show due to a technical issue as we begin.

The “live” portion begins with question from our dear friend, Ida. What is the proper code for biloma after cholecystectomy? Following that, Kristy describes an IRF scenario in which an auditor disagreed with her IGC selection. Was Kristy correct? Finally, Anonymous asks whether an ABN is needed when the commercial insurer does not cover the service and the patient has been alerted and chooses to proceed. Here’s the link Ms Digby mentioned during the “Insider’s” portion: https://oig.hhs.gov/oei/reports/OEI-09-18-00260.pdf

Congratulations Kristy for winning today’s “mugging”! We appreciate your support! Coffee with the Coder(R) loves your questions.  To watch episode 143, click this beautiful mugshot from Linda. (Just so you know, the captions are not yet validated.)
