During the “Insiders” portion of Episode 140, Paula Digby describes CPT modifiers affecting the payment for that service. Nancy asked for guidance in reporting autism as their entity has received denials, where can she get help? Anonymous asked for help in sequencing codes for the etiologic diagnosis on the IRF PAI – official coding guidance seems to conflict on this point. Anonymous 2 asked about reporting uncertain diagnoses in the IRF setting – are these reportable and under what conditions? NOTE: A big shout out of kudos to Jodie for asking for clarification on this answer. Because IRF is not listed, they cannot code uncertain diagnoses. “The guideline for reporting unconfirmed diagnoses is for the listed provider types in the note below ICD-10-CM Official Coding Guidelines III. C. only”
