Filling in the Gap with Locum Tenens

When a physician or physical therapist takes vacation or family leave a gap is present in his or her place. In some circumstances, CMS allows substitutions, called Locum Tenens, to fill the gap. A Locum temporarily fills in for another provider, helping to fill the gap left behind. While Locums are commonly used across the country, there have been some recent changes to the regulations regarding who can report and how that reporting is done. This has left a gap in understanding when it comes to reporting any services performed by a Locum. Join us in this session as we fill in the gaps of what locum is as well as and when and how to report services performed by them.

Topics include:

  • What is locum tenens and who can act as one
  • How to report services provided by locums
  • Regulatory guidance related to locum services
