Breathing Easy: Coding Respiratory Tests and Treatments in CPT

As we make our way through Fall and head into Winter we all prepare for a drop in temperatures, realizing that cold weather doesn’t just bring with it sweaters, hot chocolate and the holiday season; it also brings with it a rise in respiratory infections. Whether we call it the flu season or cold season, as the temperatures around us drop, we can expect to see an increase in the need for respiratory tests and treatments to help combat these stubborn infections. In this session we are delving into how to correctly report these tests and treatments in CPT. In this session we will take look at: -Accurately documenting respiratory conditions to provide medical necessity; and regulatory guidance from CMS on how we should report these tests and treatments.
